Bolkow

 

Castle in Bolków (German Bolkoburg) was founded by Prince Boleslaw II Legnickiego Rogatkę (Turnpike) (in the first half. XIII century), later expanded by his son Bolek Surowy - prince świdnicko-Jaworski. At Piastowski age residents of the castle were the prince burgrabiowie, such as: Logau, Schaffgotsch, Schweinichen, Salza. In 1392 the castle became the property of Czech kings. In 1463 the Czech king Jiří of Podiebradów placed in the castle knight Hans von Tschirnhaus. In 1596 the castle passed into the hands of family Zedlitz. In 1703 after the expiry of the family branches Bołkowski Zedlitz castle (and city) was sold Cysters from Krzeszow. After the secularization of monastery castle slowly fell into ruin.
