Former residence raised by Jan Zamoyski in 1579-1586 according to the design by Bernard Morando, closed the main axis of the city from the West. It was separated from the city by means of its own bastile fortifications. The palace was a single-storey “frontal” building 60 meters in length, which had a two-winged stairs leading to the first floor from the front. A quadrilateral tower dominated above the palace – belvedere with an observation desk. In the XVIII century the residence was reconstructed according to the Baroque style. The tower was lowered; the attic was removed and topped with triangular gable with sculptures on the corners. The corpus of the palace was given high, lofty mansard roofs connected with multistory galleries with outbuildings in the back. Two side pavilions and long ground floor backhouses were added from the front. Since 1809 the complex stopped serving as a residence of the ordinates and in 1821 it was sold to the State Treasury along with the city. The formerly rich equipment was destroyed during the reconstruction and conversion into a military hospital that took place after 1831. After gaining independence in 1918 the rooms of the palace were made over to the court institutions.
